Around 99.5% of voting machines are functioning without issues on election day, the Ministry of Electronic Governance said on Sunday. The Ministry reported that faults have been recorded in fewer than 1% of all devices, with technicians from Ciela Norma, the contractor responsible for machine maintenance for the Central Election Commission, responding promptly and restoring machines to election mode where possible.

As of noon, 74 machines have been flagged for issues, accounting for approximately 0.5% of the total deployed. Not all incidents required removal of equipment from the voting process, the Ministry said. The situation closely mirrors the performance of voting machines during the parliamentary elections in October 2024.

The Ministry of Electronic Governance said no software-related problems had been reported so far.

Earlier in the day, the Constituency Election Commission in Yambol (Southeastern Bulgaria) said problems with voting machines had been reported in around 30% of voting sections in Yambol Region. Due to non-functioning machines, three sections out of 155 using voting machines in the constituency have fully transitioned to paper voting.
