Two lives come together in Angel Vasev’s exhibition Studio. Home, which opens on March 4 at the Astry Gallery in Sofia, the hosts of the exhibition announced. The exhibition, which will run until March 22, includes paintings from two main periods: 1978–2005 and 2005–2026.
"This exhibition shows paintings from two human, and for the artist, creative periods, from his work in his studio for almost 30 years and from 2005 to the present, when he paints at home, close to his family. Art historians will identify the differences between the two periods. For us, as viewers, they logically flow into one another, revealing the artist's dedication and proving that his creativity is a continuous, unrestricted by the material, spiritual process," owner and art director of the Astry Gallery Vihra Pesheva said.
Angel Vasev was born in 1939 in the village of Velichkovo, Pazardzhik region. In 1978, he graduated with a degree in painting from the National Academy of Art in the class of Prof. Dobri Dobrev. Since then, he has been working as a freelance artist. His creative career began with his first solo exhibition in 1984 in Sofia. In 1986, he participated in the International Biennial in Barcelona, and in 1998, he won first prize in the Human Rights competition, organized by the UN in cooperation with the Union of Bulgarian Artists in Sofia.
