site.btaGERB-UDF: Caretaker Cabinet Will Be of CC-DB and President Iotova

GERB-UDF Deputy Floor Leader Denitsa Sacheva told journalists in Parliament on Wednesday that the caretaker cabinet will be one of Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) and President Iliana Iotova. She was commenting on Iotova's decision to nominate Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) Deputy Governor Andrey Gurov as candidate for caretaker prime minister.

"We see that the consultations have yielded a result and we have a choice that was desired by CC-DB. During the consultations, GERB-UDF did not indicate any preferences of its own and said that the choice is entirely in the hands of Iliana Iotova, unlike other groups such as CC-DB, which openly campaigned for Andrey Gurov," Sacheva said.

She said that her party was not concerned about the name of the caretaker interior minister, whoever it may be. "For us, elections are about winning the trust of voters and responding to their expectations," she said.

The assumption that the interior minister is always the most important figure in elections has usually been an excuse for those who lose them, Sacheva stated. "When someone speaks of owning the Interior Ministry, they are certainly presupposing manipulations they themselves are capable of," she added.

"The so-called 'house book’ [a reference to the pool of possible candidates to be appointed as caretaker prime minister] has certainly shown that it is far from the best constitutional solution," Sacheva further said.
