Outgoing Minister of Youth and Sports Ivan Peshev welcomed the snowboard bronze medallist Tervel Zamfirov at Sofia Airport on Monday, following the Milano Cortina Olympic Games.

Peshev thanked Zamfirov for the emotions he brought, noting that 20 years later he once again put Bulgaria on the Olympic podium, and described the medal as the result of hard work, perseverance and belief, adding that the whole nation is proud of him.

The Bulgarian snowboarder won Bulgaria’s first medal at the Winter Olympics in 20 years. He won the bronze medal in the men's parallel giant slalom small final after a dramatic photo finish, defeating Slovenia’s Tim Mastnak.

Minister Peshev also congratulated Bulgaria’s other two finalists in the parallel giant slalom, Radoslav Yankov and Malena Zamfirova, who also performed strongly, reaching the round of 16.
