On Saturday morning, the final group of the 34th Bulgarian Antarctic Expedition departed for Livingston Island on a flight route Sofia – Rome – Buenos Aires – Santiago – Punta Arenas, the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute (BAI) said.
The group includes Prof. Razvigor Darlenski, MD, PhD, a dermatologist from Acibadem City Clinic – Tokuda University Hospital, who will work on a project related to the morphological adaptation of the skin under extreme conditions; Dragomir Mateev, Deputy Director of the National Centre of Polar Research at Sofia University and Head of Logistics for the National Polar Research Programme; and Ganka Pavlova, an icon painter.
In Punta Arenas, Chile, the group will be joined by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marina Stefanova from the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Sofia University, who will conduct research in the field of sustainable development within the National Polar Research Programme, as well as Yordan Mihaylovski, who will work on visual representation using modern technologies such as 360-degree cameras and 3D scanners.
