Maintaining the highest standards of technical and nuclear safety at Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant remained the top operational priority, outgoing Deputy PM Atanas Zafirov said on Wednesday.
He also welcomed a Council of Ministers decision earlier in the day granting a derogation allowing the plant to import iron and steel products from Russia needed for its normal operation.
As the Deputy PM overseeing the Nuclear Regulatory Agency, Zafirov said he was pleased with the decision.
Earlier on Wednesday, the outgoing government granted a derogation for supplies of parts for Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant from Russia.
Zafirov added that the Kozloduy N-plant could import from Russia the iron and steel products required for its normal operation. He said that regular deliveries of components and spare parts from the designers, engineers, and manufacturers of the equipment installed at the plant were essential to nuclear safety and the accident-free generation of electricity.
