In the coming months, 12 renovated fire stations will be opened across the country, Chief Commissioner Alexander Dzhartov, Head of the Fire Safety and Population Protection Directorate General of the Interior Ministry said on Friday at the opening ceremony for the renovated building of the Dimitrovgrad fire department, the third of the 12.

The renovation of the Dimitrovgrad station is part of a project under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan with a total value of BGN 1.167 million. Our employees deserve better conditions in which to perform their duties, Dzhartov said.

Outgoing Interior Minister Daniel Mitov said that the Ministry prioritizes the idea of better conditions and equipment for firefighters. He emphasized the good cooperation with local authorities in implementing the project.

The fire department in Dimitrovgrad is inextricably linked to the history of the city, having been established one year after the city's founding, Dimitrovgrad Mayor Ivo Dimov said.
