site.btaVratsa to Host BTA's Forum Marking 150th Anniversary of April Uprising
A conference dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the 1876 April Uprising will take place at the BTA National Press Club in Vratsa on Thursday. This will be the second event in BTA's series aimed at sparking discussions to mark the anniversary of the uprising, after the inaugural forum in Ruse.
The conference will be opened by BTA Director General Kiril Valchev. A special guest will be Sofia University Rector Prof. Georgi Valchev. The moderator will be journalist Boyko Vasilev.
The presentation segment will also feature Vratsa regional governor Nikolay Nikolov; Vratsa Municipality Deputy Mayor Aleksandar Vladimirov; historian from Veliko Tarnovo University Prof. Plamen Pavlov; Neli Stoyanova, curator in the History of Bulgaria from the 15th–19th Century Department at the Regional History Museum in Vratsa; Radosveta Krumova, chief expert for Culture at the Vratsa Municipality; historian, artist, director, and writer Iskren Krasimirov; historian and principal of Hristo Botev Secondary School in Vratsa, Krasimir Bogdanov; as well as students from the school.
Similar forums will also be organized at BTA press clubs in the centres of the remaining revolutionary districts of the April Uprising - Veliko Tarnovo, Sliven, and Panagyurishte. The conferences are part of the joint initiative of BTA, Bulgarian National Television, and Bulgarian National Radio, titled 14 Centuries of Bulgaria in Europe. The initiative aims to commemorate anniversaries of Bulgarian historical events that have had an impact on shared European history.
The 14 Centuries of Bulgaria in Europe programme includes anniversaries through 2032, when 1,400 years will be marked since the founding of Old Great Bulgaria.
