Bulgarians Malena Zamfirova and Kristian Georgiev won the women's and men's parallel giant slalom events at the FIS Snowboard European Cup in Bansko on Wednesday.

For 16-year-old Zamfirova, this is a second consecutive victory after she won the first European Cup parallel giant slalom in Bansko on Tuesday. This was expected given her strong performance at the World Cup in the same Bulgarian winter resort over the weekend, where she finished fourth and fifth.

In Wednesday's big final, Zamfirova defeated Larissa Gasser of Switzerland. Third place went to Daria Belova of Austria, who won the small final against Yuna Taniguchi of Germany.

In the men’s parallel giant slalom events, Bulgaria produced two podium finishers. The victory went to Kristian Georgiev, who defeated Italy’s Fabian Lantschner in the big final. This is Georgiev’s second European Cup title, following his win in Davos in March last year. Third place on the day went to Petar Gergyovski, who won the small final against Adam Pochinek from Czechia.

The European Cup events in Bansko on Wednesday concluded a long competition week, which began with a World Cup round where Malena’s older brother, Tervel Zamfirov, recorded his first victory at this level of competition.
