The 32nd Surva International Festival of Masquerade Games will open in Pernik on Friday, the Municipality of Pernik said in a press release. The forum will bring together more than 250 participants.
The opening will be marked by a stage performance at 6:00 p.m. on the city’s central square, Krakra Pernishki Square. The production will take the audience into the world of tradition, mythology and the power of rituals that lie at the heart of Surva. The performance will feature folk ensembles, students from the National School of Dance Art, as well as musicians, acrobats, fire performers, survakari from the villages of Yardzhilovtsi and Gabrov Dol, among many others.
The first festival day will begin with the 31st scientific conference, followed by art workshops and a bazaar. After the opening ceremony, a concert by the Gipsy Kings will take place at the Memorial Complex located on the central square.
