There have been no reports of Bulgarians killed or injured in the incident at a bar in the Swiss ski resort of Crans-Montana, Bulgaria's Foreign Ministry told the Bulgarian News Agency on Thursday.

Swiss authorities have not provided further details, the Ministry said, adding that the Council of State of the Canton of Valais has declared a state of emergency.

The Embassy of Bulgaria in Bern is in contact with local authorities and is monitoring the situation, standing ready to provide assistance, the Ministry noted.

The explosion occurred at around 1:30 a.m. local time, AFP and Reuters reported, citing a police statement. Some 100 people were injured, most of them seriously, according to the authorities. Police said many of the injured were receiving medical treatment for burns, and some of the victims were foreign nationals.

Earlier in the day, outgoing Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov expressed condolences for the loss of life caused by the explosion.
