Bulgarians Albert Popov and Kalin Zlatkov failed to finish the first run of the alpine skiing men's slalom at the Milano Cortina Olympics on Monday. The race on the Stelvio course in Bormio took place in difficult conditions with heavy snowfall and reduced visibility.

Starting with number 18, Popov missed a gate before the middle of the course. Zlatkov, who started with number 40, left the competition for the same reason at a similar point on the trail.

The 28-year-old Popov achieved his best Olympic result at the 2022 Beijing Games, finishing ninth in the slalom.

Zlatkov, 25, made his Olympic debut two days ago, taking 37th place in the giant slalom at the Milano Cortina Games.
