During the International Children’s Festival of Bulgarian Music and Dance BESARAB FOLK in Taraclia, Moldovan officials congratulated the Bulgarian community on the Day of the Bessarabian Bulgarians. The festival opened on October 29 at the Stepan Tanov House of Culture.
Among the speakers were Moldovan MP Natalia Dаvidovich, State Secretary of the Ministry of Culture Vladimir Vornic, and Vyacheslav Ryabchinski, Director of the Agency for Interethnic Relations.
"I am a Bessarabian Bulgarian myself. My grandmother taught at the first Bulgarian high school here. This day is deeply personal for me and my family," said Davidovich, noting that Moldova is a small but multicultural country.
State Secretary Vornic highlighted the Bulgarian community’s lasting contribution to Moldova’s development through work, education, and culture, saying it has "built its place in society through dedication and cooperation".
Ryabchinski emphasized that Bulgarians who arrived in Moldova 200 years ago have preserved their language and traditions, which today form an integral part of the country’s national identity. He announced that the Agency for Interethnic Relations donated a set of traditional Bulgarian costume accessories to Taraclia’s Department of Culture as a gesture of respect for the heritage of the Bessarabian Bulgarians.
