site.btaGovernment Updates Medium-Term Budget Forecast Following Adoption of 2026 State Budget

At its regular meeting on Wednesday, the Council of Ministers approved amendments to the updated medium-term budget forecast for the 2026-2028 period, which had been adopted earlier in 2026 by a government decision.

The changes stem from the 2026 State Budget Act adopted by the National Assembly. They provide for an increase of EUR 2 million in the Ministry of Culture's capital expenditure for 2026, financed through a corresponding reduction in the capital expenditure budget of the National Assembly. The additional funding will support the restoration and conservation of the facades of the Freedom Monument on Mt Shipka.

The government also increased subsidies for non-profit legal entities by EUR 51,100 for the Western Outlands Research Institute. The funding will support the institute's research activities and the promotion of the historical, cultural and spiritual heritage of Bulgarians in the Western Outlands, a region in Southeastern Serbia inhabited by an ethnic Bulgarian minority. The necessary resources will be provided through reallocations within the operating budget of the Ministry of Education and Science.

The government's key fiscal parameters for the 2026-2028 period remain unchanged.
