site.bta2027 State Budget Drafting Procedure Approved

The government approved the planning and drafting process for Bulgaria's state budget for 2027, which will be accompanied by an updated medium-term budget forecast for the period 2027-2029, the government press service said on Wednesday, covering the Council of Ministers weekly meeting.

The budget procedure is aligned with the deadlines set out in the Public Finance Act and the relevant secondary legislation, as well as the timetable for preparing and submitting Bulgaria's Draft Budgetary Plan for 2027 to the European Commission and the Eurogroup.

The procedure covers all budget-funded organizations, as well as state- and municipally controlled legal entities that are not part of the consolidated fiscal programme but fall within the general government sector.

All primary budget spending units whose budgets form part of the state budget will prepare their 2027 budgets using the programme budgeting format. The only exceptions are the National Assembly and the judiciary, for which the budget format is governed by law.
