On August 12, Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev received a delegation representing the Jordanian Association of Bulgarian University Graduates, consisting of Haider Ibrahim Mustafa, chair of the Board of Directors, Nabil Al Bakri, coordinator of the Board of Directors, and Ali Al Fayez, responsible for cultural and educational initiatives in the Association.

A number of issues related to the Association's activities, its relations with the Embassy in Amman, and events undertaken so far to present Bulgaria to Jordanian society were discussed. Steps were also outlined to expand existing projects, particularly in the field of scientific research in agriculture and light industry, as well as their practical application.

Georgiev described Bulgarian alumni as a bridge between Bulgaria, Jordan and the countries of the Middle East.

One of the specific activities of the Association is to support the Bulgarian Sunday school in Amman, which already has about 40 students. The conversation also focused on how to expand contacts between graduates of Bulgarian universities and those from other countries in the region.

The Jordanian Association of Bulgarian University Graduates was established in May 2000. From the 1960s to the present day, around 3,500 Jordanian citizens have completed their higher education in Bulgaria in various academic disciplines. Many of them have held and still hold leadership positions in Jordanian state institutions, while others have achieved significant professional success in the private sector both in Jordan and outside the Kingdom.
