Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov will be on an official visit to Moldova on July 27 and 28, the Bulgarian government said in a press release on Saturday.

On the first day of the visit, an official welcoming ceremony will be held for Zhelyazkov, followed by a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of Moldova, Dorin Recean, and plenary talks between the two delegations. After the talks, the two government leaders will give a joint press conference.

Key topics to be discussed include Moldova’s European integration, the situation of the Bulgarian community in the country, and opportunities for strengthening bilateral economic ties.

Later that day, Prime Minister Zhelyazkov, together with Prime Minister Recean and Bulgaria’s Education and Science Minister Krasimir Valchev, will visit the town of Taraclia. The programme includes a meeting at the Taraclia District Council with its Chairperson, Lazar Dermenji, as well as a visit to the local branch of the Angel Kanchev University of Ruse. A ceremony will be held at the higher education institution to sign an agreement transferring ownership of the former Taraclia University’s premises to the Taraclia branch of the University of Ruse.

On Monday, July 28, Zhelyazkov is scheduled to hold meetings with the President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, and with the President of Parliament, Igor Grosu.

The guest will lay a wreath at the monument to Stephen the Great, a prominent medieval ruler of Moldavia, considered a national hero and a symbol of the country’s independence and statehood.
