Last night’s drone left 300,000 people are left without water, and 200 residential buildings are without electricity, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Kuleba said Thursday on his Telegram channel.
Work to restore the water supply systems is ongoing, and where possible, backup power sources are being used.
“According to DTEK (the largest private investor in the energy industry in Ukraine), the enemy has again attacked an energy facility. This is the 31st major substation of the DTEK company in Odesa Oblast that has been damaged. The destruction is significant. Repairs will take a long time to return the equipment to working condition. Currently, electricians are working on-site to clear the damage. The main priority is restoring electricity to critical infrastructure facilities,” the Odesa city administration reported on its website.
Due to a power outage at water supply facilities, residents in two districts of the city (Kievsky and Khadzhibeysky) are without water, the city administration’s website further reported.
Bulgarians in Odesa Oblast number over 150,000 and constitute the third-largest community according to the latest official census in Ukraine. In the city of Odesa itself, around 50–60,000 Bulgarians live. The largest concentrated Bulgarian populations are in the Bolhrad, Izmail, and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi districts.
