Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration Oleksiy Kuleba reported in his Telegram account on Friday that Russia has once again attacked the energy and transport infrastructure of Odesa Region.

As a result of the heavy overnight attack, 74,500 people in the region were left with no electricity. The city of Odesa was hit the worst, with around 65,000 households without power. Nearly 9,000 people are without electricity in the city of Artsyz due to the attacks in recent days.

Services are working on restoration. Critical infrastructure is operating on backup power from generators.

Some 85,000 people in Odesa have been left with no heating. Repair work is continuing at an accelerated pace to restore stable operation of the facilities as soon as possible, Kuleba reported.

The city authorities have organized the delivery of non-potable water by water trucks to areas with water supply interruptions. Temporary shelters with heating and electricity are open around the clock, the Deputy Prime Minister reported.

Bulgarians in the Odesa region number more than 150,000 and were the third largest population group in Ukraine in 2001, according to the official census. About 50,000 - 60,000 Bulgarians live in the city of Odesa itself. The largest compact Bulgarian population is concentrated in the Bolhrad, Izmail and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi districts.
