site.btaBulgaria, Georgia Have Potential to Deepen Connectivity, President Radev Says
Capitalizing on their geostrategic location, Bulgaria and Georgia have the potential to deepen connectivity in various fields such as transport, energy, and digital infrastructure. This would help stimulate economic growth, investment, and prosperity across the Black Sea region, Bulgarian President Rumen Radev said during his meeting with Georgian Parliament Chair Shalva Papuashvili, who is visiting Sofia to attend the 66th Session of the General Assembly of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC). During the forum, Georgia assumed the rotating chairmanship of PABSEC for the next six months, the President's Press Secretariat said on Monday.
Radev and Papuashvili highlighted the importance of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation as a platform for dialogue aimed at strengthening security, stability, and prosperity in the wider Black Sea region, where enhanced connectivity plays a key role. The President outlined opportunities for joint projects significant for Bulgaria and Georgia as countries on opposite shores of the Black Sea. Cooperation in this field would help improve energy security and diversify supply routes, he noted, stressing the importance of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route linking Europe and Asia, as well as the transmission of green energy.
President Radev praised Georgia’s economic development, noting that the country’s European integration is a precondition for further deepening bilateral cooperation with Bulgaria. The sides noted that their nations share centuries-old cultural and spiritual ties.
The Bulgarian head of State expressed this country's firm support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.
