Bulgaria’s national seniors (women) team won a gold medal in the Aesthetic Group Gymnastics World Cup in Larissa, Greece, which was held from June 26-29. The team received an aggregate score of 56.350 points, including 27.850 pts for its first routine on Saturday and 28.500 pts in the final on Sunday.
It was this year’s first international competition for the Bulgarians, who presented a new routine under coach Kristina Tasheva. The team was comprised of Karina Neykova, Siyana Tabakova, Hristiana Kovacheva, Viktoria Berova, Yana Staykova, Maria Mehlemova, Sibila Karpacheva and Katrin Taseva.
Second place went to the team of Minetit from Finland, who scored 54.550 pts (26.900 and 27.650), and third place went to another Finnish team, Gloria, who won 53.900 pts (26.550 and 27.350). Bulgaria’s Club Academic placed fifth on 51.350 pts (25.450 and 25.900).
Bulgaria’s national juniors team also grabbed the gold after scoring 55.800 pts (28.000 and 27.800). They prevailed over second-placed Minetit Junior from Finland (54.550) and third-placed OVO Junior (54.100). The Bulgarian national juniors team was comprised of Linoy Georgieva, Daria Nacheva, Zhaklin Naydenova, Andrea Hristova, Andrea Sarafova, Dalia Ivanova and Nikol Zlatkova.
A total of 32 teams, seniors and juniors, took part in the World Cup in Larissa.
On Friday, the national seniors and juniors teams of Bulgaria won gold medals at the Balkan Games in Aesthetic Group Gymnastics, also in Larissa.
