Representatives of the Consumer Protection Commission (CPC) and the National Revenue Agency (NRA) held euro information meetings in Mizia, Tsar Kaloyan, Asenovgrad, Ivaylovgrad, and Petrich on Friday, part of the National Information Campaign for the Introduction of the Euro in Bulgaria.

During the meetings, basic principles and technical details of the process of switching from leva to euro, scheduled for January 1, 2026, were explained. The representatives of the institutions underscored that prices in retail outlets must be indicated both in BGN and EUR, using the official fixed exchange rate. It was pointed out that all available bank accounts and electronic funds will be automatically converted into euro at the fixed rate, without the need for any action on the part of consumers.

Information materials related to the introduction of the euro were also distributed during the meetings.

The euro information meetings are a joint effort between the responsible institutions, including the Ministry of Finance, the Bulgarian National Bank, the Ministry of Economy and Industry, the CPC, the NRA, the Financial Supervision Commission, the National Social Security Institute, and others.

Bulgaria is set to adopt the euro as of January 1, 2026, becoming the 21st member of the euro area.
