A total of 15,345 perfumes featuring popular brand labels were found during an inspection of a shipment consisting of 11 pallets by customs inspectors from the Sofia Customs Territorial Directorate, the Customs Agency said on Thursday. In the accompanying documents, the goods were described as car parts intended for delivery to France.
Violations of intellectual property rights are suspected. According to preliminary information, the goods were intended for distribution via online cosmetics stores in Western Europe, including France, the Customs Agency said.
Representatives of the protected brands in Bulgaria have been notified and have confirmed that the perfumes infringe trademark rights. The Sofia Regional Prosecution Office has been informed of the case.
