At the end of July 2025, registered unemployed people in Bulgaria were 150,060, putting the unemployment rate at 5.29%, which was 0.1 percentage points lower than the same month in 2024, the Employment Agency (EA) said on Friday.

At the end of June 2025, registered jobless people totalled 144,186, and the official unemployment rate was 5.09%.

In July 2025, more than 7,200 economically inactive people were encouraged to take their first steps toward employment with the support of job centre teams, Roma and youth mediators nationwide. A total of 12,207 people found jobs through job centres. In total, 1,486 people, including persons with disabilities, young people without work experience, people over 55, and the long-term unemployed, were hired under subsidized employment programmes. Some 1,363 of them started work on projects funded by the Human Resources Development Programme 2021-2027, co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+).

The EA added that alongside activation and job placement, it invests in people’s future through training and skills upgrading. In July 2025, over 16,700 training vouchers were issued to unemployed and employed persons. The measure aims to support adaptation to the demands of the modern economy, especially amid accelerated digitalization and technological transformation, the EA noted.

During the same month, employers declared 8,087 vacancies on the primary labour market. The largest share was in manufacturing (22.4%), followed by education (19.5%), public administration (12.7%), trade and motor vehicle repair (11.1%), accommodation and food service (5.9%), administrative and support service activities (5.8%), and others. Teachers, workers in the extractive and manufacturing industries, and waste collection workers were among the most sought-after occupations.
