site.btaChecks in Pharmacies Reveal Cases of Incorrect Currency Conversion in Double Marking of Orices in BGN and EUR

As a result of massive inspections in retail outlets, pharmacies, including online pharmacies, cases of incorrect currency conversion in the double marking of prices in BGN and EUR have been discovered, the Consumer Protection Commission (CPC) said.

The CPC said that the irregularities identified are serious and noted that after August 8 they will constitute legal violations and are expressed in unlawful rounding of amounts to the detriment of consumers, the use of an incorrect fixed exchange rate and a discrepancy between the final price in BGN and its corresponding value in EUR.

Such actions constitute a violation of the law which directly harms the rights and legitimate interests of consumers, the CPC said. The Commission added that it considers such behaviour particularly unacceptable in the context of an important process for the people such as the introduction of the euro.
