The Serbian government has established a new operational body to oversee the country’s EU integration, without abolishing the Ministry of European Integration, Serbian media report. The team will consist of high-level state representatives tasked with coordinating faster implementation of all obligations on Serbia’s path to the EU. Its role will include providing strategic leadership, political coordination, and timely resolution of issues critical to progress in the accession negotiations, according to a government statement cited by Tanjug.
The statement emphasizes that the team will serve as a link between top-level decision-making and the operational management of the negotiations, helping to ensure coordinated action among all relevant institutions.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of European Integration will continue to handle professional, organizational, and administrative coordination, ensuring smooth collaboration among all participants in the negotiation process.
Earlier on Monday, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic told private television channel Blitz that he believes the new operational team, led by Serbia’s Head of Mission to the EU in Brussels, Daniel Apostolovic, will help speed up the country’s EU accession. “I have enormous trust in the people who will be on this team, especially Daniel Apostolovic, who is also very hardworking,” Vucic said.
