The summer season has begun with forecasts for a good year, both at sea and in the mountains, Deputy Tourism Minister Irena Georgieva told journalists in Pamporovo on Friday. She participated in a scientific conference on the role of climatological resorts for health and the example of Pamporovo, which took place in the mountain resort.

Georgieva pointed out that for the first time the summer season is being opened not only on the seashore, but also in the mountains, which corresponds to the priority of the Tourism Ministry for Bulgaria to be a year-round tourist destination and for the mountains to not be associated only with winter sports.

"Climatological treatment is a part of health tourism, which is starting to become increasingly popular, and our goal is precisely to promote this opportunity in Bulgarian resorts," she emphasized, adding that the air and climate are healing in Pamporovo and the region.

Georgieva commented that the tourism sector's efforts are largely aimed at stabilizing traditional markets. "Let's restore the positions of foreign markets to the levels they were in the very successful 2019," Georgieva said, noting that stabilization is expected in the German and British markets, and the goal is to reach and surpass the levels of the pre-pandemic 2019.
