A new investment of BGN 100 million by the Lindner Group in the under-construction Lozen Tech Park in Sofia, its adjacent residential area, and related infrastructure was announced today by Rosen Plevneliev, Chairman of the Advisory Board of Lozen Tech Park and President of Bulgaria in 2012–2017.

The announcement was made during an event presenting the progress of the project to create Bulgaria’s first private science and technology park.

Plevneliev told BTA that everything built so far - residential spaces, an educational center, and Phase 1 of the tech park - represents an investment of BGN 135 million. "We are continue with an additional investment of BGN 100 million. Of this, BGN 20 million will be allocated for the construction of two new buildings for the tech park and its infrastructure, including amphitheaters, parks, and playgrounds. The remaining BGN 80 million will be invested in the third phase of the residential park, he explained.

“So, these BGN 80 million, plus the two new buildings for BGN 20 million and the infrastructure - that’s the new BGN 100 million investment,” he summarized. “All of this will be operational in two years, and Lindner will have effectively invested BGN 235 million. After that, they will continue to BGN 400 million with Phase 4 and Phase 5. The Lozen Tech Park itself will consist of a total of 15 buildings. This is a city within the city, with three main components: tech park, residential park, and educational and sports infrastructure,” Plevneliev added.

Lozen Park is based on the 15-minute-city concept.

"A city where people can drop off their kids at the German school, go to the gym, work in the tech park, and live in the residential area. This city-within-the-city is an investment totaling BGN 400 million,” said Plevneliev.

“There will be R&D centers here, offices for large and small companies, including a Lindner office - the group’s R&D hub - which will collaborate globally with renowned architectural studios such as Norman Foster’s (Foster and Partners, ed. note) and Zaha Hadid Architects, among others,” Plevneliev continued.

“One thing is important to us: we are a long-term investor in Bulgaria and we will certainly continue to be,” said Helmut Lang, CEO of the Lindner Group. The group has been in Bulgaria for the past 30 years and, according to Lang, has invested over BGN 700 million during that time.

As part of today’s event, Lindner also awarded the winners of a green tech competition for the 2024/25 academic year. The special award went to the Carpool project by a team from the University of National and World Economy (UNWE), including Dr. Margarita Ivanova, Lyubka Keryanska, Rebeka Simova, and Gergana Dyakova. The winners told BTA they presented a project promoting carpooling among colleagues to reduce carbon emissions and protect the environment.
