Foreign direct investment in Bulgaria stood at EUR 1.116 billion in January – April 2025, according to preliminary data released by the Bulgarian National Bank on Tuesday. The net inflow of direct investment in Bulgaria increased by EUR 241 million, or 27.5%, year-on-year. In January – April 2024, the net flow was positive at EUR 875.9 million.

Foreign direct investment in Bulgaria recorded a net outflow of EUR 114.3 million in April 2025, compared with an outflow of EUR 222.3 million in April 2024.

Direct investment abroad rose by EUR 99.8 million (0.1% of GDP) in January – April 2025, compared with an increase of EUR 378.8 million (0.4% of GDP) in the same period of last year. In April 2025, direct investment abroad dropped by EUR 24.4 million, compared with an increase of EUR 268.6 million in April 2024.

The BNB publishes monthly data on foreign direct investment net flows for the reporting month which include all transactions made during the reporting period. The preliminary data are compiled in accordance with the directional principle and are subject to revisions.
