site.btaBlue Flag Award for Kranevo-North Beach

Kranevo-North Beach retained the Blue Flag for the fourth straight year, concessionaire Adrian Dimitrov told BTA's Pavlina Zhivkova. The strip lies by the village of Kranevo in Balchik municipality on the Northern Black Sea coast.
The beach stretches for roughly 6 km and is up to 80 m wide, with fine golden sand and a gently sloping, stone-free seabed that lacks dangerous currents. Crews are currently preparing the area for the start of the tourist season.
“We constantly invest in new facilities, build pathways for visitors with reduced mobility and create parking areas to improve access,” Dimitrov said. A few years ago the operator introduced small collection cones for cigarette butts so that they would not be discarded in the sand. “The idea was well received and earned special praise from Blue Flag; we are now extending the campaign,” he added.
Dimitrov noted that visitor numbers have risen noticeably since the award. The company is widening access to the strip and supplying new, high-quality sunbeds and umbrellas. He expects a strong season and more guests from June 1.
BTA is presenting all 30 Bulgarian beaches and harbours distinguished with the Blue Flag by the programme’s international jury in Copenhagen. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the country’s first award – the pilot Blue Flag was raised at Sunny Beach on July 4, 1995.
