The Ministry of Interior is marking the International Day of Remembrance for Fallen Officers by laying wreaths at the monument dedicated to fallen police officers in the capital Sofia, the Ministry said.
Interior Minister Emil Dechev, representatives of the leadership of the Ministry, and representatives of the National Bureau of Interpol will lay a floral tribute at the monument at 10 am Police departments across the country will begin their work by observing a one-minute of silence and with police lights turned on in memory of their colleagues who lost their lives in the line of duty.
The Ministry of Interior also recalled that this year the campaign is held under the motto “RFO – Remembering Fallen Officers.” As a member state of Interpol, Bulgaria, together with more than 100 countries, expresses solidarity with the global police community and supports the initiatives organized and coordinated by the international organization.
On the eve of memorial day, the building of the National Palace of Culture (NDK) in Sofia was illuminated in blue.
On March 7, law enforcement agencies and police forces around the world will gather to honor the service and calling of police officers everywhere and to pay tribute to the women and men who have lost their lives in the line of duty, according to the Interpol website.
