The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) received three awards in the national competition "The Greenest Companies in Bulgaria" for 2025. The awards were presented at an official ceremony held at Sofia’s Intercontinental Hotel on Friday. The 15th edition of the competition, organized by b2b Media, honoured public and private companies which in the period 2024-2025 implemented green campaigns, initiatives, investments or sustainable development programs and launched action and causes for a healthier environment.
BTA was recognized in the Green Media category for its Green BTA project. The award was accepted on behalf of the Agency by Tsvetomira Marinova, head of BTA’s economic news department. The award was presented by jury chair Nadya Marinova.
"I accept the award with joy and a sense of responsibility on behalf of all BTA journalists contributing to the content of the Green BTA section, filled daily with news on ecology, climate change, green transition, sustainable corporate practices from Bulgaria and the world, including in English. In its nearly four years, the column has become one of the emblems of BTA and I strongly believe that it will not stop and will even gain more momentum for green news to turn it into an evergreen news platform," said Marinova.
The BTA Green project was created in October 2021 as an open-access column dedicated to ecology, climate change and the green transition, including an English version - BTA GREEN.
It allows all media, citizens and institutions to have free unrestricted access to BTA information on relevant topics, both from reporters and correspondents in Bulgaria and from news agencies around the world that are BTA partners.
BTA also received two individual awards in the Green Feather category. Elena Savova, deputy director of the economic news department, and Antoaneta Markova, head of the LIK department, were awarded. The journalists were recognized for their leading contribution to the coverage of events and trends in the field of sustainable development, social responsibility, climate change and ecology.
"This recognition is a huge incentive to continue to spread the word about the green idea, but an even bigger incentive is the inspiration from ideas like those behind the projects presented tonight. Thank you for the inspiration," said Elena Savova.
"This is a gathering of like-minded people. Some of us tell stories, others create ideas and best practices to talk about. And our work together benefits the whole society," said Antoaneta Markova upon receiving the award.
