On Friday, President Rumen Radev received the management of the Turkish company BGN, said the President's Press Secretariat. During the meeting, the head of State expressed Bulgaria's interest in maximizing its potential for transporting natural gas to the European Union and the Balkans.

BGN specializes in building energy infrastructure and the production and trade of liquefied natural gas and fuels, and is active worldwide. The company initiated the meeting with the President. It plans to increase its exports to the European Union, including liquefied natural gas, and Bulgaria could play a key role in this, said the President's Press Secretariat.

During the meeting, President Radev emphasized the importance of the Solidarity Ring initiative, which was created in 2023 by his caretaker government and aims to utilize and modernize existing gas pipeline infrastructure throughout participating countries. Several countries in Central and Eastern Europe have expressed interest in importing natural gas from Bulgaria via this initiative. The President expressed his confidence that Bulgarian institutions will take the necessary steps to increase the import of liquefied natural gas to the European Union and to rebuild trust in Bulgaria as a reliable partner in the transit of natural gas.

BGN's leadership expressed interest in implementing mutual projects in transportation and energy connectivity.
