A total of 13,211 employees of the ministries and their departments have been laid off during the caretaker governments of Prime Minister Galab Donev between August 2022 and June 2023, the Council of Ministers press service said here on Monday. The figures were provided by the individual ministries as a response to information circulated in the media about the number of dismissed staff in the administration, which it described as "media speculation".

The number of layoffs for the ministries and their structures is as follows:

• Ministry of Interior: 1793;
• Ministry of Agriculture and Food: 1472;
• Ministry of Education and Science: 1184;
• Ministry of Energy: 725;
• Ministry of Finance: 634;

• Ministry of Labour and Social Policy: 501;
• Ministry of Justice: 378;
