site.btaSofia Mayor: Company that Damaged Yellow Pavers Fined BGN 100,000

The company that rearranged the pavement in the section near the National Assembly has been fined BGN 100,000 for damaging Sofia’s yellow paving stones, Mayor Yordanka Fandakova announced on Friday on bTV. According to her, the company is owed BGN 260,000, but it has not received any payment for the repair of this section.
"Immediately after the thinning of the pavement, we invited experts to investigate the causes and recommend a technique to rearrange it properly, lest this happens again," she noted.
The company tasked with the repaving was obliged to cover a trial section at the site. The pavers are to be rearranged again in the summer, the Mayor said.
“Damage to the pavement is publicly visible. The yellow pavers are cultural property, they were designated as such in 2016 at my request. The difficulty lies in finding a technique to repave that is both efficient and sparing to the yellow stones,” Yordanka Fandakova explained.
