The Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) Governing Council identified six banks as other systemically important institutions (O-SIIs) and set the level of the O-SII buffer on an individual, on consolidated or both an individual and consolidated basis, applicable to the total risk exposure amount, the BNB reported on Thursday.

The other O-SIIs are UniCredit Bulbank, United Bulgarian Bank, DSK Bank, Eurobank Bulgaria, all with 1% of the buffer for O-SII, as well as First Investment Bank with 0.75% and Invest Capital, Central Cooperative Bank with 0.50%.

The overall ratings are based on data as of June 30, 2025, at the highest level of consolidation. The size of the O-SII buffer is subject to change following the annual review of the identification of O-SIIs and the determination of the respective buffer by the BNB. Compared to the BNB’s 2024 decision on O-SIIs, a change is reported only in the buffer for Eurobank Bulgaria, which increased from 0.75% to 1%.

In accordance with Art. 11, paragraph 4 of BNB Ordinance No. 8, the decision shall be disclosed one month after the notification to the European Systemic Risk Board.
