For the second consecutive year, Bulgaria has reported no errors in the absorption of European funds in the fields of agriculture and natural resources, according to the European Court of Auditors’ 2024 Annual Report. This transpired during a meeting between Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov and Bulgaria’s representative to the European Court of Auditors, Iliana Ivanova, the government information service said on Tuesday. According to the report, the overall error rate for the European budget decreased from 5.6% in 2023 to 3.6% in 2024.

During the discussion, the Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s strong commitment and dedication to the timely and effective use of European funds, both from the structural funds and the Recovery and Resilience Facility. The Prime Minister emphasized that Bulgaria will continue working to fully utilize the opportunities offered by European programs for social and economic development. Zhelyazkov also highlighted the key role of financial discipline and good governance as the foundation for sustainable economic growth and for increasing public trust in European policies.

For her part, Iliana Ivanova said that the political stability guaranteed by the regular functioning of the government is the most important prerequisite for the country’s sustainable development and for maintaining the trust of European partners. Prime Minister Zhelyazkov noted that these efforts will become even more intensive following the introduction of the common European currency on January 1, 2026.
