site.btaDistrict Court in Dupnitsa Overturns BGN 150,000 Fine Against Bobov Dol Thermal Power Plant

The District Court in Dupnitsa overturned a BGN 150,000 fine imposed on the Bobov Dol Thermal Power Plant, said a court decision published on the court's official website on Monday.

The court found that the administrative violation fine was not duly served to the offender, as it was not signed and delivered to the company manager. For this reason, the court considered it to be unlawful and annulled it.

The decision of the District Court in Dupnitsa can be appealed before the Administrative Court in Kyustendil.

The fine had been issued by the Director of the Administrative, Financial and Legal Activities Directorate, authorized by the Director of the Sofia Regional Environment and Water Inspectorate (REWI). The fine was the result of an extraordinary inspection upon a report from employees of the REWI, which had revealed emissions in a dark brown color, as well as dust around and in the area of ​​the power plant. After establishing that no appropriate measures or corrective actions were taken on site to limit dust emissions, an administrative penalty in the amount of BGN 150,000 was drawn up, based on the Environmental Protection Act.
