In Bulgaria, services production decreased by 1.3% in August 2025 compared with July 2025 and by 0.7% compared with August 2024, Eurostat reported on Friday. In the EU, seasonally adjusted services production fell by 0.2% in August 2025 compared with July 2025, while in the euro area it increased by 0.1%. Compared with August 2024, services production rose by 1.8% in the EU and by 1.7% in the euro area.
In August 2025 compared with July 2025, services production decreased in the EU by 0.7% in transport and storage, by 0.1% in accommodation and food service activities, by 1.2% in information and communication, and by 0.4% in professional, scientific and technical activities. It increased by 1.2% in real estate activities and by 0.4% in administrative and support service activities.
In the euro area, service production fell by 0.6% in transport and storage and by 0.9% in information and communication, remained unchanged in accommodation and food service activities, and increased by 0.9% in real estate activities, by 0.1% in professional, scientific and technical activities, and by 0.5% in administrative and support service activities.
Among Member States for which data are available, the highest monthly increases were recorded in Greece (+5.4%), Slovenia (+2.8%) and France (+0.7%), while the largest decreases were observed in Luxembourg (-4.8%), Romania (-2.4%) and Denmark (-1.9%).
Compared with August 2024, service production in the EU increased by 1.6% in transport and storage, by 1.2% in accommodation and food service activities, by 3.5% in information and communication, by 2.0% in real estate activities, by 0.9% in professional, scientific and technical activities, and by 1.0% in administrative and support service activities.
In the euro area, it increased by 0.8% in transport and storage, by 1.5% in accommodation and food service activities, by 3.8% in information and communication, by 2.0% in real estate activities, by 0.7% in professional, scientific and technical activities, and by 1.1% in administrative and support service activities.
Among Member States for which data are available, the largest annual increases were recorded in Greece (+25.3%), Lithuania (+7.9%) and Denmark (+6.0%), while Hungary (-4.5%), Malta (-3.1%) and Austria (-2.0%) registered the biggest decreases.
