A collection of artworks by Ukrainian artist Vasily Mironenko (1910–1964) will be exhibited at the National Academy of Art (NAA) in Sofia from September 17 to October 3. Titled, "Sofia Sketches: A Walk into the Past", the exhibition will be on at the Terasa Gallery in the Academy's new building on Shipka Street, the NAA said Sunday.
The exhibition is organised in partnership with the Embassy of Ukraine in Bulgaria and with the assistance of Sofia Municipality, said the National Academy of Art.
Vasily Mironenko is one of the most famous Ukrainian graphic artists of the 20th century, a long-time lecturer and head of the Graphic Arts Department at the Kharkiv Art Institute. His artistic career includes a number of etching cycles, among which are Ukrainian Landscapes, Donbas, Picturesque Ukraine, as well as his impressions from trips to Bulgaria and Poland in the 1950s. His works are kept in the National Art Museum of Ukraine, the Kharkiv Art Museum, and private collections.
