Defence Minister Atanas Zapryanov Saturday addressed the cadets of the Class of 2025, specializing in Medical Support for the Armed Forces at the Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy, during their commissioning as lieutenants at the Military Medical Academy in Sofia. He said: "The government is making every effort to prioritize military development and the strengthening of the Bulgarian Armed Forces."
Zapryanov recalled that this year, the average salaries of servicepeople have been increased by 30%, and grants for training at higher military education institutions have also been raised. The number of candidates for service in the Armed Forces and for enrolment in higher military schools has soared, the Minister added.
He said that an accelerated modernization of Bulgaria's Armed Forces is planned. If all ongoing projects and those set to begin under the EU's SAFE mechanism are implemented, the Armed Forces will be qualitatively different by the end of 2030 compared with their current state, according to Zapryanov.
"Prepare to serve as doctors, to care for the health of our servicemen, and in times of combat - to provide medical support to our Allies," Zapryanov told the cadets.
