A Russian cancer vaccine will be available to Serbian citizens by the end of 2026, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Pink TV on Friday. Trials so far show the vaccine is effective in about 85% of cases, Vucic added.

Vucic met on Thursday with two Russian directors of research centres involved in developing the vaccine and expressed interest in the new treatment, noting the prevalence of oncological diseases in Serbia.

He also said that he would hold talks by the New Year to lower the prices of all medicines in Serbia. According to Vucic, the government will begin these discussions but will not be able to act immediately.

“If prices do not decrease, then we will import more so-called generic medicines,” Vucic said, adding that the State intends to pursue these talks without repressive or any other restrictive measures.
