Google awards USD 150,000 for doctoral fellowships to young scholars in artificial intelligence at Bulgaria’s Institute for Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Technology (INSAIT) with the St Kilment Ohridski University of Sofia, INSAIT announced on Monday.
Google has a long history of supporting the Institute, having donated over USD 6 million so far for its activities, including scholarships and computing resources. With the current funding, the company reaffirms its lasting commitment to the development of INSAIT as a leading centre for research and innovation in artificial intelligence, said INSAIT.
This donation will finance doctoral programmes in the fields of egocentric vision and streaming multimodal large language models. The project aims to develop AI systems that can perceive, store, and reason in real time from a human’s perspective.
The PhD students participating in the project will be supervised by INSAIT researchers in close collaboration with a team from Google Zurich.
