Muslims and Christians gathered in a spirit of mutual respect and centuries-old tradition to offer a joint prayer for rain, prosperity, and peace in the locality of Karabash near the northern village of Sredno Selo, Zlataritsa Municipality, the regional Mufti, Nutfi Nutfiev, announced.
The interfaith prayer was initiated by the village Mayor with the support of local residents, the Regional Mufti Office of Veliko Tarnovo, and the Municipality of Zlataritsa.
The event featured a shared prayer and communal meal, bringing together believers from both faiths. It was not only an appeal for rain in the face of global drought but also a call for an end to natural disasters—fires, earthquakes—and the wars unfolding around the world.
Among the official guests were Zlataritsa Mayor Petar Ganev, Deputy Grand Mufti Ahmet Hasanov, and local clergy.
“This is more than just a religious ritual—it is a message that we can pray together, hope together, and support one another, regardless of our faith or background,” said Nutfiev. He emphasized that the gathering unfolded in an atmosphere of peace, respect, and shared hope—reminding everyone that the true strength of a community lies in compassion and mutual understanding.
