site.btaTwo Animated Short Films Present Bulgaria at EU Film Days 2025 in Japan


Bulgaria will be presented at the EU Film Days 2025: A Celebration of European Animation film festival in the Japanese cities of Osaka, Tokyo, Nagoya, Fukuoka, and Kyoto, the Bulgarian Embassy in Japan announced on its website.
As this year the film festival focuses on animation, Bulgaria will be presented by the animated short films The Artist's Daughter and Family Portrait on the Black Earth.
The two Bulgarian films will be screened in Tokyo as part of the festival programme on June 30, July 2, 3 and 6.
The Artist's Daughter by animator and special effects artist Dimitar Dimitrov is the first animated Bulgarian film based on images generated by artificial intelligence.
Family Portrait on the Black Earth (2024) directed by Ivan Popov – Zaeka (The Rabbit) is based on the short story of the same name by Yordanka Beleva and was selected in the film program of the international exhibition EXPO 2025 in Osaka, Japan in May this year.
EU Film Days 2025, featuring a selection of 44 films from 27 EU Member States, including 13 feature films and 31 short films, gives Japanese audiences a chance to discover the creative depth and diversity of European animation.
