A collaborative project between artists from Bulgaria, Spain and the US is bringing to Sofia a new dance theatre, Apparatus, that will premier at the Alma Alter theatre of Sofia University on May 2, said the Spanish Embassy in Sofia. The project is part of the initiative “Cultural Bridges: Bulgaria, the World, and Us”, which aims to foster collaboration and artistic dialogue across borders.

Apparatus is a contemporary dance theatre piece presented by Theater-Studio 4XC under the direction and choreography of American artist Rebecca Hoback, with original music composed by Ignacio Carvajal of Spain.

The Bulgarian cast includes Petya Yosifova-Hunkins, Adriana Slavova, Natali Boneva, Mijail Bonev, Ornella Tzolakova, Mariela Dimitrova, and Georgi Arsov - artists from a variety of backgrounds brought together to explore new creative languages through movement and sound.

Ignacio Carvajal, known for his 13 albums of original music, had previously worked with Theater-Studio 4XC on the multimedia performance Motion&Sound. His atmospheric compositions are central to Apparatus, providing an immersive soundscape for the production.

The Cultural Bridges initiative is supported by the Spanish Embassy and the National Culture Fund of Bulgaria.
