A planetarium will be unveiled in the public access area of the Burgas sea terminal on May 24, said Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company, which built the installation. The sphere-shaped metal building seats 50 people under a dome of 8 m in diameter, on which 2D and 3D visualizations will be screened in real time.

The planetarium, which is part of the nearby PlanetUm children’s science centre, will welcome visitors daily from 10: 30 am to 7 pm. It will be open for group visits and classes in geography, physics, and astronomy for pupils from Burgas and the region. Entry will be free on June 1, International Children’s Day.

The project for a planetarium at the Burgas sea terminal is part of an overall concept for creating a single urban education centre where children and parents meet science and acquire new knowledge and skills in an entertaining way.

Burgas is the latest Bulgarian city to unveil a planetarium: in November, Sofia opened its first planetarium. In December, Varna (on the Black Sea) opened the renovated star hall of its Planetarium.
