site.btaBulgaria's INSAIT Ranks 13th in Europe, Overtaking Universities in Oxford, London, Amsterdam, Berlin
CSRankings, a metrics-based ranking of top computer science institutions around the world, has ranked the Institute of Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Technology (INSAIT) at the St Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia ahead of Oxford University, University College London, and Technical University Berlin, Bulgaria's Education and Science Ministry said on Monday.
INSAIT ranks 13th in Europe and first in Eastern Europe, a historic accomplishment for an institute established only in April 2022. This achievement continues to position Bulgaria as one of the leaders in Europe in one of today's most competitive and strategically important fields.
CSRankings evaluates only publications in the most prestigious and selective international conferences, providing objective and reliable information on the scientific influence and impact of each institution. According to various sources, Europe has over 1,400 universities and research organizations active in computer science, but only the best are included in CSRankings. Traditionally, first places are held by organizations with vast experience and proven results over the years, and having a Bulgarian research organization ranked among them is an unprecedented success for the entire region.
INSAIT's ranking covers the period from its first publications in 2023 to the present day, and includes the research areas that INSAIT focuses on and are supported by CSrankings: computer vision, robotics, machine learning, natural language processing and algorithms. In specific fields, the institute ranks even higher; for instance, in computer vision, INSAIT is ranked sixth in Europe.
