Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov said targeted actions were being taken to destabilize the political environment in the new autumn season. Addressing the Cabinet before its meeting on Wednesday, he urged the ministers not to yield to collective or personal provocation but to do their job professionally and responsibly.
The government is showing a strong collective spirit, coalition discipline and clear progress on the goals set in its programme, Zhelyazkov also said. He pointed to the Cabinet's timely and accurate responses to every public or environmental challenge as proof of effective governance.
Inherited problems can no longer serve as an excuse now that the Cabinet has reached political maturity, Zhelyazkov added. This is further proof that a regular government with a clear term of office can address issues properly, he said.
The Prime Minister called on ministers to offer solutions, not excuses, to communicate their work clearly, and to demonstrate responsibility and accountability. The cabinet will be judged by results and effective decisions, not by blame directed at the past or predecessors.
"When we ourselves become former office-holders, we must not act like those we now criticize," Zhelyazkov said, describing this as a matter of personal and collective responsibility rather than populism. "The government faces extensive work in the social and economic spheres, but every solution must begin with a clear understanding of what has been inherited and achieved, which falls down to us."
