Hundreds of firefighters, police officers, rescue teams, and volunteers are working to remove debris, mud, fallen trees, and vehicles in the Elenite resort village, the Burgas Regional Administration reported on Saturday.

On Saturday, repeated inspections were carried out in all buildings to evacuate any remaining people and to check for safety risks.

At the request of Regional Governor Vladimir Krumov, additional forces from the Ministry of Defence joined the efforts, two military units from Atiya and Lozovo, with 45 servicemen, manual clearing equipment, an excavator, and a loader. Their presence has significantly accelerated the pace of work, the regional administration noted, with the military taking on the heaviest clearing tasks.

Dozens of machines - excavators, loaders, an amphibious vehicle, trucks, a water tanker, and tow trucks, are on site to clear roads, remove mud, and deal with fallen trees and stranded vehicles.

Work continues nonstop in all affected areas. The regional crisis headquarters reminded that access to the area remains restricted and that the property of evacuated residents is under constant security.

Severe weather and torrential rains in the Burgas region claimed three lives and caused significant material and infrastructure damage. A state of emergency has been declared in the municipalities of Burgas, Tsarevo, and Nesebar.
